Bangor Wales Arcadia
Award-winning teaching in a supportive community, surrounded by stunning natural beauty

Bangor University is located between the snow-capped mountains of Snowdonia and the rugged, beautiful coastline of North Wales. Its quality of education, excellent teaching, and thriving student community makes for a vibrant semester in one of the world’s most scenic places. Enroll in classes across Bangor's variety of academic departments, including ones that host world-class research. Study here and experience a part of the world steeped with Arthurian myths and legends—Wales offers lots to explore, with thousand-year-old castles and medieval cities such as Chester and York within easy traveling distance. Big cities like London, Liverpool, Manchester, and Dublin are just a few hours away. If you are a student looking for an immersive experience, enjoy independence, and are attracted to the lifestyle of an affordable smaller city with a mix of friendly, rural, and urban living, then Bangor could be just what you’re looking for.

  • As an Arcadia study abroad student, you will also have the support of Arcadia staff in the London Center to help you settle in and enjoy your semester.

  • Bangor hosts the largest Ocean Science Department in Europe. Spring semester students have the opportunity to study on Bangor’s ocean-going research vessel and research center on the Isle of Anglesey.

  • Bangor ranks first in the United Kingdom for clubs and societies, providing hundreds to choose from. You can get involved in a diverse area of activities, projects, volunteering, clubs, and sports teams. The university provides outstanding sports facilities for a variety of athletic and outdoor pursuits, as well as the Pontio Arts Centre for professional tours and an on-campus movie theater.

Excursions & Activities

Arcadia includes many fun and exciting excursions, events, and activities - many of which are free and included in your program. You also have a range of optional excursions and events to join such as the exciting Regional Excursion where we bring together students from our England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland programs, and a continental Europe event every Fall and Spring semester.

All Arcadia excursions are designed to be fun, interactive learning opportunities where you can visit places of exceptional interest in the country and enjoy experiences that help to illuminate your studies. You could also earn a Co-curricular Learning Certificate (CLC).
